Dating in Perth: sunsets, Freo and the west coast way
· 1 min read · getme team
Perth is one of the most isolated big cities on earth, and locals like it that way. Life here is relaxed, outdoorsy and organised around the beach. It’s also very spread out, which is why meeting people near you matters.
Local first
From Joondalup in the north to Rockingham in the south, Perth stretches a long way along the coast. getme shows you people in your own suburb first, so a match in Leederville doesn’t become a Mandurah road trip before you’ve even said hello.
Perth date ideas
- Sunset at the beach. Cottesloe, Scarborough and City Beach face west over the Indian Ocean. Bring fish and chips and watch the sun go down.
- Kings Park. Walk the treetop walkway, find a picnic spot and look out over the Swan River.
- Fremantle. Wander the markets, grab a coffee on the Cappuccino Strip and finish with a drink at one of Freo’s breweries.
- Rottnest Island. Save it for a later date: hire bikes, find a quiet bay and take a quokka selfie.
- Northbridge and Mount Lawley. For an evening date there are small bars, live music and late-night eats.
Perth dating tips
Use the weather. Most of the year is perfect for outdoor dates. In high summer, aim for mornings and evenings.
Plan the trip home. Public transport is good on the main lines but thins out late. Make sure you have your own way home.
Be upfront about FIFO. Fly-in fly-out work is common in WA. If your roster means you’re away for weeks at a time, say so early. Honesty saves everyone time.
